John Loi Hieng Yee
Is the founder of Sara-Timur Sdn Bhd and has been with Sara-Timur Sdn Bhd as the Managing Director since August 1999. Prior to this appointment, he was the Project Manager and Regional Director for for Corpro Construction (M) Sdn Bhd and Nishimatsu-Corpro Constuction (M) Sdn Bhd for eight years and was responsible for a number of key projects in East Malaysia. These included the construction of the Sarawak Securities Head Office, Rihga Royal Hotel, Miri, Extension of Sabah Shipyard, Labuan, the Sutera Harbour Resort Hotel (Sabah), the Kuching Deep Water Port (Sarawak) and the Kuching Outdoor Stadium (Sarawak). Mr Loi’s career began in January 1987 as the Site Engineer for Wilkins & Davis Ltd (New Zealand) and then became the Project Engineer for Mainzeal Construction (New Zealand) two years later. Returning to Malaysia in January 1990, Mr Loi was appointed as the Project Manager for Hock Seng Lee-Zubin Joint Venture and Hock Seng Lee Sdn Bhd consecutively. Mr Loi received a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand.
Anthony Tiong Kin Kuok
Has been an Executive Director with Sara-Timur Sdn Bhd since September 1999. Prior to this, he was the Commercial Manager for Nishimatsu-Corpro Construction (M) Sdn Bhd for more than four years where he played a key role in the construction of the Sutera Harbour project. Mr Tiong’s career began in August 1979 as the Contracts Officer for Zaidun Leeng Sdn Bhd followed by becoming the Branch Manager for WTS Konsultant (Consulting Architects, Engineer and Surveyors). In April 1987, Mr Tiong became the Senior Quality Surveyor for Antah Biwater JV where he was later promoted to the position of Commercial Manager – Sabah. Following a short stint with Corpro Construction (M) Sdn Bhd in 1992, Mr Tiong made a move to become the Commercial Manager of the Kota Kinabalu Water Supply Privatisation project for John Holland (M) Sdn. Bhd. Mr Tiong received a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Building Technology from the University of Manchester.
Huong King Kuong
Is the co-founder of Sara-timur Sdn Bhd and has been the Executive Director of Sara-Timur Sdn Bhd since September 1999. Prior to this, he was the Senior Area Engineer for Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd (Pasir Gudang, Johor). He was later transferred to Shell Timur Sdn Bhd (Kuching) as the Senior Engineer for the state of Sarawak where he was involved in the construction, installation, maintenance and upgrading of oil storage and dispensing facilities such as storage tanks, petrol stations, depots, pumps and other company own properties. Mr Huong’s career began in January 1987 as the Trainee Engineer for Zaidun Leeng Sdn Bhd followed by becoming the Project Engineer for the ITM Campus (Petra Jaya, Kuching) development with Syarikat Pembinaan Yeoh Tiong Lay Sdn Bhd. The following year, Mr Huong became the Project Engineer for Spekon Sdn Bhd’s ground water exploration and micro piling projects. Mr Huong received a Bachelor of Engineering (Second Class Upper) in Civil Engineering from University Technology Malaysia.
Lee Pek Kiong
Has been with Sara-Timur Sdn Bhd since September 1999, as an Executive Director. Mr Lee has played a key role in the development of significant projects such as the Sandakan Harbour Square, Swiss inn Hotel, New Kota Tinggi Commerical Centre and the Sarikei Hospital. Prior to this, he was attached to NCC Corporation Sdn Bhd as the Senior M&E Engineer for Hock Lee Centre, Kuching. Mr Lee’s career began as the Design Engineer for Mony Plastic Industrial Co (Taiwan). Two years later, Mr Lee joined Nishimatsu-Corpro Construction (M) Sdn Bhd as the M&E Engineer where he supported key projects such as the Sutera Harbour Resorts Project Kota Kinabalu – golf and yacht club, resort hotel developments; as well as, in Kuching, the new outdoor stadium and Wisma Mahmud. Mr Lee received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan ROC.
Lee Yik
Has been with Sara-Timur Sdn Bhd since September 1999, as a Contract Manager, until he was appointed as the Executive Director in April 2001. Prior to this, he was the Quality Surveyor for Nishimatsu-Corpro Construction (M) Sdn Bhd for more than two years. Mr Lee’s career began with brief stints as the Trainee Site Surveyor for Corpro Construction (M) Sdn Bhd, Contract Officer and later Quality Surveyor for KM Engineering & Development Sdn Bhd and then the Trainee Contract Officer for Baharudin Ali & Low Consultant. Mr Lee received a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Quantity Surveying from the Liverpool John Moores University, UK.
Sam Khoo Yee Yong
Has been the Executive Director of Sara-Timur Sdn Bhd since rejoining in October 2005. Prior to this, he was the Senior Contract Manager for Hiti Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd where he was later transferred to Hiti Engineering (Chengdu) Co. Ltd. as the General Manager of Subsidiary Companies for Shanghai and Chengdu, China. Mr Khoo’s career began in 1981 as the Engineer for Civil and Structural Design for Desarunding Consultant Engineers, Technical Sales Manager for Hunter-Douglas (M) Sdn Bhd followed after by becoming the Marketing Manager for Sika-Johnson Coating (M) Sdn Bhd. In 1991, Mr Khoo joined Corpro Constructions as their Technical Director and was involved in the Sutera Harbour Resorts Project Kota Kinabalu – golf and yacht club, business hotel and resort hotel developments. Mr Khoo received a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from University M.I.S.T, UK.
Gary Ng Chei How
Has been the Executive Director – Finance for Sara-Timur Sdn Bhd since rejoining in 2007. Prior to this, he was the Chief Financial Officer for PPSC Industrial Holdings Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Wah Seong Corporation Bhd). Mr Ng’s career in accountancy began in 1988 as the Financial Accountant for Mayflower Acme Tours Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Tan Chong Motors Group) and later the Head of Finance and Accounting for Trans-Global Agencies Bhd. In 1995, Mr Ng joined Corpro Group/Nishimatsu-Corpro Construction (M) Sdn Bhd as their Financial Controller. Mr Ng received a Diploma in Commerce (Management Accounting) from Tunku Abdul Rahman College. He is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (Chartered Accountants) and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK).
